The Ballard Neighborhood

Check Out What's Close to Talta

Bustling yet peaceful, historic yet modern, Ballard is a wonderful neighborhood with a little something for every type of resident. In recent years, Ballard has become one of the city’s more popular foodie destinations while also being home to a thriving craft beer scene and an amazing variety of quirky retail stores. The neighborhood’s one-of-a-kind vibe frequently makes it feel like it’s a city entirely separate from Seattle. And in fact, Ballard was its own city until 1907 when it was annexed by Seattle. While the annexation happened over 100 years ago, “Free Ballard” signs and bumper stickers are still a common sight in and around the city. The misgivings that the Ballardites of yesteryear had about being a part of Seattle have helped to ensure that Ballard has maintained its own unique cultural character throughout the years.
